

Robert Lamont Gaston Jr., born February 21, 1942, in Bloomington, Illinois, passed away on September 17, 2024, in Tampa, Florida. He was the son of the late Gloria and Robert Gaston. Robert lived a life full of love, service, and dedication to his family and country.
On November 11, 1967, Robert married the love of his life, Delia E. Gaston. Their bond, built on mutual respect and enduring love, lasted over 57 years. He was a proud twenty-year veteran who served honorably in the United States Navy, demonstrating his strong dedication and loyalty in every aspect of his life. He was also a member of the American Legion Post 138.
Robert “Bob” was an avid golfer and enjoyed friendly games of horseshoes. Music was a special love of Bob’s who always enjoyed a “jazz” rendition of the song “Misty”. Bob himself could carry quite a tune and was recognized throughout his Naval career and personal life for his special singing talent.
Upon retiring from the US navy served as the Director of Management for the Tampa Clerk of Circuit Courts until his second retirement.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Delia E. Gaston; his daughter, Edith Reager (Voung); and his son, Alfredo. He was a proud grandfather to Anthony and Allan Reager, Kaitlyn, Brittaney, and Zachary. Bob cherished his role as a great-grandfather to Alena and Aiden. He is also survived by his sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law: Sofia and JP Moore, Felisa and Ronald Peterson, Gloria White, and Lolita Postel.
Robert is additionally survived by his siblings: Eric “Cowboy” Gaston of Valrico, Florida David Gaston, of San Diego, California, Diane Gaiter-McDowell and Sherrie Moore of Houston, Texas, James Gaston (Linda), Michael Gaston, (Haqq), Ramona Shaw (Louis), Treyce Spears (Larry) and Gary Muhammad of Bloomington, Illinois. Robert will be missed by a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, great nieces/nephews and dear friends.
Robert was preceded in death by his two siblings Allen Gaston and Jewell Curtis.
A celebration of Robert's life will be held on Sunday, September 29, from 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM at Blount and Curry Life Event Center. Military honors will be presented promptly at 11:00 AM as we gather to honor a life well-lived, remembering Robert’s legacy of love, service, and devotion to his family and country.
