Robert S. “Robb” Lamont, Jr., 45, of Tampa, passed away on May 23, 2018 surrounded by his loving family. He had been fighting pancreatic cancer for almost nine years, longer than most people survive with that disease.
Robb is survived by his wife, Lori; sons Ryan and John; parents, Bob and Paula; brother; Michael (Susan); in-laws, Jack and Pam Ryan; sisters-in-law, Amy, Cari, Staci (Brian); and nieces and nephews, Jonathan, Madison, Blake, Jack, Rylan, and Addison.
He was a proud family man. Robb and Lori loved to travel and go on various adventures. Nothing made him happier than seeing his boys succeed in the classroom and on the athletic field. He loved watching Ryan play baseball, including when he hit a homerun in a playoff game last week. He loved reading books with John, especially Harry Potter. Robb wanted so badly to live and see his children grow-up.
Robb was a huge sports enthusiast and Florida Gator. He would watch the Gators play irrespective of the sport being played. If the Gators were on television, Robb was watching.
Robb was a securities lawyer and the General Counsel and Chief Compliance Officer for Kopernik Global Investors in Tampa. He loved everything about Kopernik – it was his dream job. He would often say it did not feel like real work to him. Earlier in his career, he was in private practice as a securities lawyer in Washington, D.C. and then an attorney for the United States Securities and Exchange Commission. He graduated with honors from the University of Florida, had a law degree with honors from Florida State University and a post graduate degree in securities law from Georgetown University.
Robb supported Pancreatic Cancer Action Network as a speaker and as a mentor to others learning they had the disease. His life was governed by the motto to live one day at a time and he did that every day of his life. Robb and his family would like to thank all the doctors and nurses that cared for him over the past nine years and the many family and friends that have supported us.
Visitation will be held on Monday, May 28, 2018 from 5pm to 8pm at Blount Curry Macdill, 605 S. Macdill Ave, Tampa, FL 33609. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, May 29, 2018 at 10am at Christ the King Catholic Church, 821 S. Dale Mabry Hwy, Tampa FL 33609. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Pancreatic Cancer Action Network at www.pancan.org.
