

Rozen Vasatka (Zen), to all that knew her of Tampa, Florida, peacefully passed away on the early morning of 28 October 2024 at the age of 51, born on 20 June 1973 in Tarlac City, Philippines. She spent her early years in the Philippines, attending primary School at the College of the Holy Spirit and Wagner High School on Clark Air Force Base. In 1998, she moved with Her Aunt And Uncle from the Philippines to Del Rio, Texas, where she graduated with Honors from Del Rio High School. She then attended the University of Southern Mississippi. 1996, while living in Tacoma, Washington, she met her future husband, Private First Class Christopher Vasatka, on a Friday night at the Lakewood Bar and Grill. Their whirlwind romance culminated in marriage on 2 April 1997, followed by a 60-day training deployment on 4 April. Always the consummate warrior's bride, She maintained the house and Home for the next 27 while also having a career of her own. Upon moving to Fayetteville, North Carolina, in 1998, She took a job at Macy's as a sales associate and progressed to Store Manager over the next 18 years. In 2016, her career at Macy's reached a point where it would have required her to move away from her husband to continue to progress. She chose family and became the full-time CEO of the Vasatka household until she took a position at the Holland America Group in 2019, which allowed her to work from home day to day and also provided the opportunity to travel. Throughout it all, she always volunteered at her husband’s various positions, from a member of the family readiness to a senior spouse and mentor to newer Soldiers Wives.
She was preceded in death by her Father, Robert Ong, and her uncle, Rodel Ong, and is survived by Her Mother, Zenida Ong, Sister Rachelle, Nephew Royce, And her Husband of 27 years, Sergeant Major Christopher Vasatka, and their two cats. Rozen Will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
Friends and family are invited to attend a time of visitation on Thursday November 14, 2024 from 4:00PM-7:00PM at Blount & Curry Life Event Center 605 S. MacDill Ave. Tampa, Florida. A Mass of Christian Burial be celebrated on Friday November 15, 2024 at 10:00AM in the Christ the King Catholic Church, 821 S Dale Mabry Hwy Tampa Fl 33609. Interment will be at a future date in Arlington National Cemetery in Washington DC.
