Beloved wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother of Temple
Terrace entered into heaven January 18, 2011. Mrs. Ahonen was one of
three children born to the late Julius and Anna Schultz, May 30, 1927. She
graduated from Sterling High School in Sterling, IL. Mrs. Ahonen was
married to the late Richard E. Ahonen, of Wakefield, MI for 48 years.
She lived a full life as a military wife, mother, homemaker, worked in retail
and was very active in her church and activities. One of her favorite past
times was playing cards and visiting with her friends at the Lightfoot Senior
Center. Well known for her baking abilities, the array of breads and cookies
were always a welcomed treat, but, the Finnish Biscuit with lots of butter
was her specialty. Mrs. Ahonen is proceeded in death by her husband,
Richard E. Ahonen, parents Julius and Anna Schultz, daughter Sandra Marie
Ahonen and sister Marion Stralow. She is survived by two daughters, Paula
Van Cleave (Ron) of Temple Terrace and Julie Ahonen of El Paso, TX, five
grandchildren Tiffany Donahoo (Dustin) of Riverview, Courtney Van
Cleave of Temple Terrace, Amara, Joseph, and Matthew Williams of El
Paso, TX, great-grandaughter, Allie Williams of El Paso, TX,
brother Ernest Schultz (Hazel) of Sterling, IL and many nieces and
nephews. Mrs. Ahonen will be missed by all who knew her; a kind, caring
and generous person, her love for God and family. A Christian service of
burial will take place at Gonzalez Funeral home at 12:30 pm, Sunday,
January 23rd, followed by internment at Sunset Memory Gardens in
Thonotosassa. Pastor Don Letzring of Wellswood Babtist Church will
preside over both. The family will receive friends at 11:00am, Sunday,
January 23rd . Memorial contributions may be made to Christ Lutheran
School, Sterling, IL or a local Animal/Rescue Shelter.
