

Ruth M. Parrish - Beloved mother, proud grandmother and treasured friend Ruth M. Parrish, 95, formerly of Tampa, passed away October 21, 2015 at Bayfront Health in St. Petersburg. Born in 1920 in Salt Lake City, UT, she was the daughter of an Army Colonel and his wife and as a result traveled extensively during her childhood and had many stories to tell. She was predeceased by her husband, Stanley N. Parrish and son-in-law Donald C. Shulman. "Ruthie" was a University of Michigan graduate and a member of the Order of the Rose of Alpha Xi Delta, which formerly had a chapter there. She participated in the Story Corps project when it came to St. Petersburg, and a portion of her interview was broadcast on WUSF-FM. She adored her children and grandchildren, loved her red lipstick, and enjoyed crab cakes, beer, and a good laugh. Survived by daughter Paula Parrish, St. Petersburg, FL, son David Parrish (Trish) and granddaughter Alex of San Antonio, FL, son James Parrish (Barbara) and grandchildren, Sarah, Jimmy, and Libby of Charlotte, NC. A graveside funeral service will be held on Sunday Oct 25, 2015 at 2pm at Myrtle Hill Cemetery, 4002 N 50th St., Tampa 33610. In lieu of flowers, please make a gift to the charity of your choice.
