Saul was born on March 29th, 1952 to Jack and Ida Weintraub in The Bronx, New York.
Saul and his beloved sister Susan delighted in a rough and tumble childhood in The Bronx. Some of his favorite childhood pastimes were fishing and playing chess with his father and cheering on the Yankees at home games.
While in Upstate New York, Saul met the love of his life Maryann and they eventually married in New York on April 29, 1972. He became well known for racing horses in Saratoga, Monticello, and Yonkers.
Saul (lovingly known as Skip to friends and family) and Maryann eventually set their sights on Florida and moved down in 1986 with 3 children in tow. He spent most of his time coaching little league, pony baseball and high school ball. Shortly thereafter he opened the Baseball Card Clubhouse. This love of sports and passion for the game would become his legacy. Described as an “Icon” in the sports card industry, his hard work and drive for the hobby was reflected in his personal entrepreneurial spirit and the community embraced him. To this day the Baseball Card Clubhouse remains open for new generations to enjoy his lasting legacy.
His life journey also led him to the Lord and he became an esteemed mentor and coach to countless young kids in baseball throughout the community. There are endless stories from young men who were inspired by his “you gotta believe” mentality. His words and guidance will live on in all our hearts forever and long after he is gone, we will lovingly recall his knack for giving good advice.
He is survived by his older sister Susan Palmero, children; Suzanne Weintraub, Steven (Jessica) Weintraub, and Jason Weintraub, grandchildren; Joshua Reustle, Hannah Weintraub, and Juliana Weintraub.
