Silvia O. Fernandez

Silvia entered God's Kingdom November 26, 2023. She was born November 3, 1935 and had just celebrated her 88th birthday along with her family and friends. She was born in Cuba to Juan Cancio Diaz and Dorotea Alfonso. Silvia, the most loving and devoted mother, trusting sister, amazing and encouraging aunt is survived by her son, Jose Ramon Fernandez III, which she adored and was so very proud of. Also survived by her younger sister, Zoila Mariana Triay, her niece-MaryAnn Triay Hurely, her nephew-Ernest R Triay.

Upon fleeing communist Cuba in 1961, she arrived in Miami and then later settled in Tampa Florida. Her studies from Cuba were in accounting and soon after settling she began to work for Founder's life Insurance company and went as high as becoming a controller for the company because of her hard work and dedication. After 27 years, the company decided to move out of state and she chose to stay in Tampa with her loving family. She began working for Hillsborough County Clerk of Courts where she was told often that she was overqualified for the job. She was a great asset to them with all her experience.

She was a devout catholic and has been a member of St. Lawrence Catholic Church since her arrival to Tampa. She was a woman of true integrity and her words, advice and actions were always backed up with admirable values and that's what made her the matriarch of her family. She was very loved and will be very missed.

A visitation for Silvia will be held Sunday, December 3, 2023 from 5:30 PM to 7:00 PM at Gonzalez Funeral Home, 7209 North Dale Mabry Highway, Tampa, FL 33614.
