He is survived by his loving wife Mary Ellen Evdemon, his children Terri Gerecke (Ed) and James Evdemon, and his granddaughters Christina Gerecke and Alexandra Gerecke. He is preceded in death by his siblings Helen Venetos, Steve Evdemon and Mary Prakas.
Stan was born in Toledo, Ohio to Michael and Theopi Evdemon. He attended The Ohio State University, where he was a member of the Sigma Nu fraternity, and attended the University of Toledo where he played baseball. In between schools, he enlisted in the Marine Corps. He was very proud of his service in the Marines. He married Mary Ellen after completing his Marine service. They celebrated a remarkable 67 years of marriage. Stan began his career in the trust department at Mellon Bank in Pittsburgh. After experiencing numerous Pittsburgh winters, he accepted a job with the Exchange Bank in Tampa where he worked through iterations of the bank and completed his career at Merrill Lynch.
Stan was a member of St. John the Baptist Greek Orthodox Church in Tampa. Mary Ellen and he shared a passion for liturgical music and joyfully sang in the choir for 40 years. He served as an officer of the National Forum of Greek Orthodox Church Musicians and received the prestigious Patriarch Athenagoras Distinguished Service Award. Stan enjoyed watching sports, of course, taking in all his granddaughters' softball games from little league to high school. He was a fan of and followed the Buccaneers, Steelers, Buckeyes and Gators.
A visitation will be held on Monday, November 10, from 5:30 to 7:30 pm (with the Trisagion at 6:30) at Blount and Curry Life Event Center, 605 S. MacDill Avenue in Tampa. Funeral service will be held on November 11 at 11:00 am at St. John the Baptist Greek Orthodox Church, 2418 W. Swann Avenue in Tampa.
