Tania Teresa Oliva, 83, born in Costa Rica in 1932 passed away peacefully surrounded by family at home in Tampa, Florida on Thursday, May 19th 2016. She was gracious and kind. She attended Holy Names Academy and the University of Tampa. Her parents were the Nicaraguan ambassador in Cuba and consul in Tampa, Dr. Norberto Salinas de Aguilar and Haydee Navarro de Salinas. Tania met her husband, Edelberto Oliva, in Tampa, Florida. Their daughter, Haydee was born in Tampa, and their son Bert, in Venezuela. Through incredible determination after losing her husband at an early age in 1960, she rose to become the first women in Venezuela to own and run a tobacco business for the following 35 years. Family was always her priority, and her children were the center of her universe. Everything she managed to accomplish was driven by their needs. She shared her life for the last 34 years with her partner, Gustavo Alarcon, and she found joy in all the little things in life. In the later stages of her life she rejoiced in close-knit ties of her family and friends. Friendships were vital to her, and nieces, nephews, as well as friends always sought her wise advice. In the best of times, and the worst of times, what always defined her was her strength of spirit. Tania leaves behind her loving partner Gustavo Alarcon, her daughter Haydee T. Ortiz (Ben), son Bert G. Oliva (Antonio), sisters Sandra Juster (Floyd), Islee Oliva, grandchildren Haydee Rodriguez (Carlos), Luis Ortiz, Benny Ortiz, great grandchildren Cristina, Carlos, Christian Rodriguez , nieces and nephews Tania T. Oliva, Trey Oliva, Islee Oliva, Octavio Jose Salinas, Liris Isabel Salinas, Sandra Conejo and Luis Salinas.
