Sgt. Thomas "Arles" Arles Goldtrap Sr.

Sgt Thomas "Arles" Arles Goldtrap Sr., age 93, of Tampa, Florida passed away in North Carolina on Tuesday, September 2, 2025. Thomas was born in Madison, Florida to Clarence and Nora (Rowell) Goldtrap on July 12th, 1932.

He was preceded in death by his wife Janie and grandchildren Scott Darby and Crystal Saunders.

Arles is survived by his children Thomas A. Goldtrap Jr (Suzanne), Barbara Darby (John), Jennifer Hayes (Brett); 8 grandchildren, and 12 great-grandchildren; and 2 sisters Glenna Grimm and Sarah Edmondsen.

He honorably served our country in the U.S. Army. Arles served in the Korean War as a sergeant and worked in mechanics on tanks.

A visitation for Thomas will be held Saturday, September 20, 2025 from 10am to 11am at Blount & Curry Funeral Home-MacDill Avenue, 605 S Macdill Ave, Tampa, Florida 33609. A Celebration of Life service for both Thomas and his granddaughter, Crystal Marie Saunders, will take place at 11am. The family invites you to stay for food and beverages until 2pm.

Thomas will be laid to rest with his wife Janie at Florida National Cemetery with Military Honors on Monday, September 22, 2025 from 1pm to 1:30pm. Please arrive to the cemetery no later than 12:45pm if you are attending the service.
