A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, October 17, 2026, at 10:30 a.m. at First Pres Tampa, 3302 W. Horatio St., Tampa, FL 33609. Family and friends are invited to share memories during a reception immediately following the service.
Born in Charleston, South Carolina, to the late Patrick Thompson Murray and Jerry Ann Murray, Tim later made Tampa his home. Tim was a graduate of Plant High School and later earned his bachelor’s degree from the University of South Florida. Tim spent more than 40 years in the insurance industry, where he built a successful career as an insurance professional and business owner.
A devoted Christian, Tim lived his faith through his actions. He was known for his humble spirit, quick wit, steadfast loyalty, and love for his friends and family. Tim enjoyed playing his guitar, listening to classic rock, and fishing. He was also an avid Tampa Bay Rays fan and rarely missed an opportunity to talk baseball.
Tim is survived by his children: Matthew Thompson Murray (Arielle) of Tampa; Alyssa Kathryn Murray (Ty Cary) of Clarksville, TN; Andrew Patrick Murray of Nashville; and Abigail Murray Smith (Parker) of Lakeland; his two grandsons, Colter Smith and Brooks Murray; his fiancée, Valerie Jackson of St. Petersburg; and his sister, Julie Rayburn Richards (John) of Roswell, GA; along with many beloved nieces and nephews.
Tim leaves behind more than memories; he leaves an example of how to live with faith, humility, and selfless service. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all who were fortunate enough to know him.
