Tracy "TRACEE" Anne Guetter (Tracy Anne Meyer) 79 years old, Tampa, Florida
Tracee was born in Virginia, Minnesota, near to Duluth. She graduated from the College of Saint Scholastica is a private Benedictine college in Duluth, Minnesota. She majored in Education and became an elementary school teacher. Her favorite grades were 3 and 4. She taught several subjects and she was one of those special teachers who played the piano. She decorated her room for every season and every holiday. Her favorite school was in Edina, MN. She taught many children of the Minnesota Vikings. She was a Vikings fan-second only to the Tampa Bay Bucs. Until her health declined, she was an active member of the Bay Port Yacht Club (BPYC). Although she did not serve in the military, she became an active NAVY WIFE. In that role, she was a patriot and attended many military functions and ceremonies. Tracee & Paul were married at the Naval Air Station (NAS) in Glenview, Illinois on December 31, 1981. There were six Navy officers with crossed swords-exiting the chapel; treacherous not just because of the ice & snow, but for the sword-bearers were Old Navy Captains and they had swords. Tracee loved boating and cruising.
The predeceased in Tracee's life are: her father Walter Meyer, her mother Inez Meyer, her brother Kirk Meyer, and her sister Sherill Meyer. Tracee was the last of the Meyers in Minnesota. In recent years, Tracee appreciated the friendship and the charitable activities of the Rough Riders and American Legion Post 152. They were very kind and concerned about Tracee's health.
It was Tracee's wish to not have a funeral per se; no memorial service per se, and no flowers please. If any one would like to donate in her name, she has three favorite charities:
(1) THE FISHER HOUSE FOUNDATION (2) TUNNEL TO TOWERS and or (3) THE WOUNED WARRIORS
In closing, her loving husband Commander Paul Guetter, U.S. Navy (Retired) wants to briefly tell you about their love story Tracee's health started to decline a few years ago. As her well-being came into jeopardy, Paul also needed (not urgently) mitral valve surgery. In consultation with a cardiologist and the cardio-surgeon, they "kicked the can down the road" on Paul's surgery with the focus on Tracee's health weak heart. Paul wanted to get Tracee well first and (of course) Tracee wanted Paul to GETTER DONE! However, Paul did not want to have surgery at the same time as Tracee. That would be awful timing and of course the hospital would not allow them in the same recovery room. Paul believes Tracee sacrificed herself to get him into surgery, ie. ultimate self-sacrifice. This reminds us of the 1970 movie the LOVE STORY, remember the famous line from the movie? "Love means never having to say you're sorry."
