Obituary of Treva Geiger Gonzalez
Treva Geiger Gonzalez, age 73, of Lutz, Florida passed away on Sunday, January 15, 2023. Treva was passionate about her work and her family. She began her early career working with individuals with eye muscle problems then evolved to become an optician. She owned, Nu Image, a thriving optical business servicing the Tampa Bay area for more than 30 years. Treva shared her passion and success in the business with her younger sister, Deena. They prided themselves in providing quality care for all their optical patients, developing many special relationships along the way. As a retirement job, Treva became a paraprofessional working with elementary school students with various exceptional needs. In this role, she spent many years at Tampa Palms Elementary where Treva made great friends and loved all her students. During that time, she was able to return to her original passion and work with students with visual impairments. Treva considered the students part of her family and shared deep connections with all of them. Treva never met a stranger. She would strike up a conversation with anyone and was kind to everyone. She always saw the good in people and would argue if you tried to convince her otherwise. She taught those who loved her how to accept others without judgement. Grandma Treva was in the prime of her life over the last 14 years because she was meant to be a grandmother. Her life and energy revolved around her grandchildren. They were the light of her life. She selflessly taught, loved, supported, and encouraged them in all of their individual interests. Grandma Treva consistently transformed what others might see as mundane task into opportunities to spend quality time with the people she loved most. Whether that be doing homework after school or taking Blake to practice. Grandma Treva had a way of making every moment special. “She was such a hero and made a significant impact on me. She taught me everything I know and made me the person who I am today” Brooke says. Grandma Treva’s love and impact knew no boundaries as her presence had the same impact on Rosie and Cami, despite living many hours apart. Additionally, Treva loved being “Tia” to her grand-nephew and grand-nieces, Peter, Valerie, and Juliet. Treva loved deeply and laughed often, especially when she was surrounded by children. Treva is predeceased by her father and mother, Jefferson Davis Geiger and Edna Sellers Geiger of Jacksonville. She is survived by her children Kristen Gonzalez Beasley (Jimmy) and Kent Gonzalez (Kelli), siblings James Geiger (Diane) and Deena Geiger Holbrook (Steven) and grandchildren Blake, Brooke, Rosie, and Cami. In lieu of flowers, Treva’s wishes were for donations be made to the Florida United Methodist Children’s Home. Donations can be made at www.fumch.org.
