WARD, Vera L., 91, of Tampa passed away on September 29, 2016. She was preceded in death by her husband, Lt. Col. James Ward in 2002. Survivors include her children, Judy Carmean of France, James Ward III (Mary Ellen) of Tennessee, Gray R. Ward (Karen) of Lutz, and Roger K. Ward (Carrie) of Georgia; sister, Mary Jane Lessly of Oklahoma, 7 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. Born in Texas, Vera spent most of her early life in Oklahoma. The Air Force brought James and Vera to the Tampa Bay area in 1967 where they chose to stay and raise their family. A funeral service will be held at 11am on Monday, October 3 at the Blount and Curry-West Chapel, 6802 Silvermill Dr., Tampa followed by internment at Sylvan Abbey Memorial Park, Clearwater. Family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, the family would like donations to go to the Oasis Pregnancy Care Center (http://oasispregnancycenter.org/) or to Lifepath Hospice (http://www.chaptershealth.org/Giving) in Vera’s memory.
