

Vernon Andrew Womack of Tampa FL passed away November 19th, 2025, peacefully and surrounded by his family following a hard-fought battle with cancer. Vernon was born in Sweet Home, Oregon November 10th, 1941, to Owen Andrew Womack and Rosine Unice Hodson.
Vernon graduated high school in 1960 and enlisted in the United States Air Force in June of 1961. Vernon was a motor vehicle mechanic in the Air Force and he retired as a Master Sergeant in June of 1981 after 20 years of service. He served in Viet Nam, was stationed at bases in Oregon, twice in New Mexico and twice at MacDill Air Force Base, Tampa FL. Additionally, he did a tour of duty in Korea in 1977 where he met his wife. Vernon and In Sun were married on October 13th, 1978 and recently celebrated 47 years of marriage.
Vernon, in his younger days, enjoyed dirt bikes and motorcycles and anything outdoors including hunting, fishing, camping, etc. He was quite a mechanic and was very good working with his hands. As a hobby, he built some beautiful model ships and wooden trucks. Vernon was a big Tampa Bay Rays’ fan and Buccaneers’ fan. He collected Texaco branded model cars and trucks, tools and fishing gear. But if you were to ask what his most favorite things to do were, his wife would tell you “Watch TV and shop Amazon.” Vernon loved old country music, his family, his country and the Lord Jesus. He was a member of the Korean Baptist Church of Tampa where he was baptized in 2019.
Vernon is preceded in death by his father Owen and his mother Rosine, two brothers, and his son William Owen Womack.
Vernon is survived by his wife of the home, In Sun Womack, one brother and two sisters, daughter Tonya Heaton (Bill) of Amarillo, TX, daughter Donna Jordi (Rolf) of Clovis, NM, grandchildren Jeffrey Abernathy (BJ) of NM, Brittney Lawson (Ryan) of TX, Crystal Turner (Mike) NM, Tyler Heaton (Jessica) of NM, Joseph Choe of KY, Brandie Bray (James) of NM, Briana Anderson (Jeremie) of SC, Brandon Womack of FL, Bethany Obenhaus (Lance) of TX, Wesley Womack (Saphire) of FL and Leanna Womack, FL. Additionally, he is survived by twenty one great grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren.
Visitation will be November 24th at 4:00 p.m to 7:00 p.m. at Blount & Curry Life Event Center. The Funeral will be held November 25th at 9:30 a.m. at the Korean Baptist Church of Tampa with burial at the Sarasota National Cemetery at 1:00 p.m.
