William Thomas Snyder, Jr. (Bill) of Tampa, passed away on January 13, 2024 with family at his side. Born in Mound City, Illinois, Bill graduated from Florida State University where he played baseball for the Seminoles and was a member of Kappa Alpha Order. At FSU, Bill met fellow student Adria Ann, and the two were married in1959. The couple eventually settled in Tampa, where Bill worked for Tampa Electric Company. After a 35-year-career there, Bill retired as VP of Customer Service. Bill and Adria raised their three sons on Davis Island. Together they enjoyed many years of baseball as the boys moved through Bayshore Little League to Plant High School to Florida State University and The University of Tampa. Bill served for many years on the Hall of Fame Bowl Committee and was a long-time coach at Bayshore Little League. He was a member of Palma Ceia Golf and Country Club where he was an avid golfer. He also enjoyed hunting and fishing with his sons and grandchildren. Bill was preceded in death by Adria Ann, his beloved wife of 61 years; and brother-in-law Robert Hudson. Bill is survived by his sister-in-law Ruth Ann Hudson; children William Thomas Snyder III (Bet), James Brett Snyder (Peni), Matthew Harrison Snyder (Kendall); grandchildren, Matthew Holtsinger (Lynsey), Kyle Holtsinger (Jill), Maggie Dene Snyder Baldwin (Hunter), Allison Ann Snyder, James Wade Snyder (Josephine) and Wesley Harrison Snyder; seven great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held at 9:30 am on Tuesday, January 30 at First Presbyterian Church of Tampa, 3302 W Horatio St. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Rene Martinez Memorial Baseball Scholarship Fund at The University of Tampa, 401 W Kennedy Blvd., Tampa, FL 33606-1490 Attn: UT Athletics; or the Plant High School Academic Foundation, 2415 S Himes Avenue, Tampa, FL 33629.
