Zenaida Colina

COLINA, Zenaida, 91, passed away on July 21, 2022, in Tampa, FL. Born in Pinar del Rio, Cuba, Zenaida worked on a tobacco farm where her father was a cowboy. In her youth, she helped raise her sisters, Alicia and Hidalia, played symbols in the school band. Zenaida loved caring for others, especially her grandchildren. She had a strong catholic faith and prayed daily her devotional prayers. In her free time, she enjoyed watching telenovelas, police mysteries, cooking and caring for others. Zenaida loved to travel. Enjoyed the trips she took with her children and grandchildren to California, Tennessee, North Carolina, Mexico, and the Dominican Republic. She was preceded in death by her parents, Crecensio Sarmiento and Maria Cabrera and her husband, Israel Colina. She is survived by daughters: Rosemary Colina Sarmiento and Luis E Sarmiento (son in law) and Mary Ellen Colina Chacon and Roland A Chacon (son in law); 4 grandchildren Marco E. Sarmiento, Jacqui Lin Sarmiento, Roland “AJ” Chacon, and Angelica L. Chacon. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Zenaida’s name to either the American Heart Association or the American Cancer Society.
