Zoila T Nieves

Zoila T. Zuñiga Elizalde Nieves beloved Wife, Mother Daughter, Grandmother, Mother-in-Law, Sister, Niece, Aunt, Godmother, and Friend passed away on Friday, November 14, 2025 in Tampa, Florida at the age of 92. She was born in Vinces, Los Rios, Ecuador.

She was a strong, fierce, amazing, truthful talented spirit who fed, clothed and housed family and friends is now at rest. She never met a stranger and would welcome anyone into her home. She was a gentle, fun-loving soul who had a heart of gold. If you needed anything she would give you the shirt off of her back. Her family was her whole world. She will be greatly missed and loved by all.

She was preceded in death by her father, Humberto Elizalde and her mother, Rosa Zuñiga; and her siblings, Carmen and Daniel Elizalde.

She is survived by her beloved spouse of 55 years and partner of 60 years Juan Nieves; her two children Juan Nieves and Rosa Nieves-Garofalo; her three grandchildren Olympia Smith, Giovanny Garofalo and Jasmine Nieves; her son-in-law Fernando Garofalo; and her daughter-in-law Tonya Nieves.

Visitation will be 10am to 1pm and Burial to follow at 3pm on Saturday, December 6, 2025 at Gonzalez Funeral Home and Sylvan Abbey Memorial Park.
