Anita Clara Matilda Ladewig

Anita Clara Matilda Ladewig passed away at the age of 93 in Colorado Springs, Colorado, October 17, 2022. Anita was born in Taylor, Texas January 6, 1929 to William and Lillie (Obermiller) Ladewig. She went to high school in Corpus Christi, Texas and went on to earn a degree in Education from the University of Texas.

Ms. Ladewig helped children as a California school teacher for many years, and loved California, especially the Muir Woods National Monument park.

Ms. Ladewig was a vegan years before the lifestyle became mainstream, because she wanted all animals to be treated humanely. She cared deeply about the prevention of cruelty to animals, women’s rights, and protecting the oceans.

Anita had blue eyes the color of bluebonnets that sparkled when she smiled.

Ms. Ladewig was preceded in death by her parents, William and Lillie Ladewig.

Anita is survived by her sister, Vera Mengelkamp of Colorado and her brother, Curtis Ladewig of Texas, and many nieces and nephews.

Graveside memorial service will be at 1:30 p.m., Monday, November 21, 2022, Taylor City Cemetery, E 4th St, Taylor, TX 76574.
