Barbara Kay Blackman Schiller was born on December 18, 1941 in Taylor, Texas to Oliver and Lorena Blackman. Oliver worked for the telephone company in Taylor and was electrocuted on the job when Kay was three years old. Her mother later met the man who would eventually raise her as his own, A.C. Schiller. A.C. was a contractor who moved around from job to job and from state to state. Kay met Earl Roberts in Clovis, New Mexico in January of 1957 and they were later married on August 23, 1958. That is 61 years, 7 months, and some days of married life to Earl.
Kay had two sisters, Nickie Schiller Christopher and husband, Gary, and Renee Schiller Broxton. Kay and Earl have two daughters, Sandy Roberts Phillips and husband David, and Martye Roberts Hill and husband Tripp. There are four grandchildren Nicolas Phillips and wife Nichole, and Benton Phillips and wife Jami, Kaylin Marie Campbell, and Kodiellen Huston Campbell. There are four great grandchildren, Mason Darrell Phillips, Sadie Elizabeth Phillips, Ivy Sue Phillips, and Ellie Grace Phillips.
Kay is a favorite aunt to Stephanie Byrd and husband Allen, Darren Cosby and wife Stacey, Sheryl Donahoe and husband Curtis, Kristofer Schiller and wife Kate, Keith Schiller and wife Wendy, and Shenandoah Starling and wife Sherry and a great aunt to a host of great nieces and nephews.
There is nothing more than Kay loved best than having any and all the family together for eating, visiting, and playing games, especially cards or dominoes. She was a gracious hostess, a hard worker, a Christian and one of God’s servants who was willing to give her time for you, especially if you were in need of something she had to give. Each and every relationship that she had with friends or family was unique and different and will be cherished for years to come. She will be missed.
