Bobby Dean Sossamon, 82, of Georgetown, passed away peacefully on April 19, 2026, surrounded by the love of his family. A resident of Georgetown for 35 years, Bobby lived a life marked by dedication, strength, and deep love for those closest to him.
He was born on February 13, 1944, in Hugo, Oklahoma to William Alexander Sossamon and Jimmie C. Jones Sossamon. He was a proud graduate of Hugo High School, Class of 1962.
Bobby dedicated 20 years of his life to law enforcement, serving the communities of Denison and Grayson County, both in Texas, and Sebastian County in Arkansas. He was known as a dependable, hardworking man — someone others could always count on — a steady presence and a go-to person during life’s hardest moments.
He was a devoted husband to his beloved wife, Nedra Lathan Sossamon, with whom he shared 40 years of marriage. Together they built a life rooted in loyalty, partnership, and enduring love.
Following his years in law enforcement, Bobby spent many years as a truck driver, delivering dynamite, steel, and gasoline. Over the course of his career, he drove millions of miles without an accident—an accomplishment that reflected his skill, focus, and professionalism. He later continued his career with Acme Brick, where his dedication and work ethic remained evident until his retirement in 2019.
A proud member of the Choctaw Nation, Bobby valued his heritage and the simple joys of life. He loved to fish, listen to gospel music, and was happiest relaxing with a good John Wayne movie. He also cherished his pets, MacArthur and Natasha, who were loyal companions that brought him joy. Above all, Bobby was a loving father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew him.
He is survived by his sons, Wesley Sossamon, Russell Sossamon, and Ryan Sossamon and his wife Morgan; his stepdaughter, Stacy Voinis; his grandchildren, Aaron Sossamon, William Sossamon, Rowan Sossamon, Reese Sossamon, Matthew Moss, Morgan Rodriguez and husband Christopher, Zoe Voinis, Demi Voinis, and Saige Voinis; and his great-grandchildren, Matthias Moss and Rory Rodriguez.
A visitation will be held on Friday 11 to 1 pm at Condra Funeral Home in Taylor, Texas, followed by a graveside service at 2 pm on Friday at Taylor City Cemetery .
Though he will be greatly missed, Bobby’s legacy of strength, loyalty, and love will live on through the family he cherished and the many lives he touched.
