God called home an angel, Frank Anton Bucanek, age 86, passed away peacefully on July 22, 2026, at the SPJST Nursing Home in Taylor. He was born in Ross, Texas on August 10, 1939 and when he was about 7 years old his family moved to Granger, Texas. He was raised in a simple, country, farm life and was the youngest of four siblings. He graduated from Granger High School and completed County Training School. He worked maintenance for the University of Texas (2 years), road and bridge for Williamson County (23 years), and carpentry for Taylor Manufacturing Company (10 years). A true Czech loving his beer, he took over ownership of a bar in Granger, Texas. Another one of his talents was wood working and restoring furniture.
Frank married Betty Jean Felfe on September 14,1991 in Taylor, Texas. They enjoyed Czech music and enjoyed dancing polka and waltz. Sirloin Stockade, Dairy Queen, and Blue Bell ice cream were some of their favorite treats. They were married for 26 years. They enjoyed traveling and spending time with family and friends, enjoying home-style meals and laughs.
Frank is preceded in death by his parents Charles and Angela (Woytek) Bucanek, his wife Betty Bucanek, step-daughter Susan Joy Menzel, and his siblings Edward, Charles, and Lillian. Frank is survived by his step-children Jackie Deaton (husband Danny) and Glenn Menzel (wife Melissa), step-grandchildren Courtney Adkison and Susan Sube, step-great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Glenn Menzel, Danny Deaton, Duane Stoll, Elliot Bohuslav, Alan Shirocky, and Cisco Reyna.
Visitation will be held at Providence Funeral Home in Taylor on Monday, July 27th, at 10 am, funeral service begins at 11 am, with graveside to follow at Granger City Cemetery.
