
Joseph Henry Pavelka, 77, of Bartlett, Texas, passed away on September 4, 2026. He was born on March 23, 1949, in Taylor, Texas, to John J. Pavelka and Valeria Holubec Pavelka.
Joe was raised on the family farm, attending Sts. Cyril and Methodius Catholic School and Granger High School. Following high school, he attended mechanic school at Temple Junior College, graduating in 1968. He began his career at Oscar’s Motor Clinic before opening his own business, Joe’s Auto & Tractor. Joe took great pride in his work and especially enjoyed working on John Deere tractors. He was also a farmer for many years.
Joe met the love of his life, Peggy Kordes, and the two were married on May 5, 1973, at Sts. Cyril and Methodius Catholic Church in Granger, Texas. Together, they shared 53 years of marriage and built a life filled with love, hard work, and cherished memories. Joe was a life-long member of Sts. Cyril and Methodius Catholic Church.
Joe was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his beloved wife, Peggy; his brothers, John G. (Angie) Pavelka, and Timothy (JoAnn) Pavelka; and his sisters, Dorothy (George) Stefek and Martha Pavelka. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.
Visitation will be held at Sts. Cyril & Methodius Catholic Church, 100 N Brazos St., Granger, Texas 76530, on September 10, 2026, beginning at 10:00 am. A rosary will be said at 10:30 am, followed by a Funeral Mass at 11:00am. Immediately following will be the Committal Service at Calvary Cemetery in Granger, Texas. Serving as pallbearers are Larry Light, Stephen Schaefer, Zachary Wilkins, Daniel Campos, Joe Campos Jr., Tommy Braun, and Joe Gallegos.
The family wishes to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the caretakers at Will-O-Bell Skilled Nursing and Rehab for their compassionate support and care of Joe.
