Leandro Dominguez

Leandro “Lee” Gonzalez Dominguez, age 72, of Taylor, Texas, passed away peacefully on June 27, 2026, surrounded by the love of his family.

Born on February 27, 1954, to Celestino and Francis Dominguez, Lee was one of seventeen children, including three siblings who passed shortly after birth. He was a proud graduate of Taylor High School’s Class of 1972. During his high school years, Lee played baseball and was a member of the legendary 1969 Taylor Ducks State Championship Baseball Team. He also shared his love of music as the lead singer of the Illusions Band.

While in high school, Lee met the love of his life, Modesta “Molly” Hernandez. They married in June 16,1973 and shared 53 wonderful years together, building a life rooted in love, laughter, and unwavering devotion.

Following graduation, Lee began a career at Alcoa, where he dedicated more than 35 years of service before retiring. His strong work ethic and loyalty earned the respect of his coworkers and lifelong friends.

Sports were woven throughout Lee’s life. After high school, he continued playing baseball and softball, earning the nickname “Smoke.” More importantly, he poured his love of sports into his son, Anthony (49), coaching him, encouraging him, and helping shape the man he would become. Lee proudly served as the filmer for the 1994 and 1995 State Championship Football Teams and cherished the many memories and lifelong friendships made while following Anthony’s college baseball career.

At the age of 35, Lee retired from competitive baseball and softball and discovered a new passion that would remain with him for the rest of his life—golf. Over the next 37 years, countless memories, friendships, and stories were made on the golf course. An accomplished golfer, Lee recorded six holes-in-one, a remarkable achievement and a testament to both his skill and his love for the game.

When he wasn’t golfing, Lee could be found cheering on his beloved Texas Longhorns, the SWT Bobcats (1997–2000), and every professional sports team from Texas. His greatest joy, however, came from supporting his family. He rarely missed an opportunity to watch his granddaughter, Hayden, compete in sports or participate in school activities, and he treasured every round of golf and every moment spent with his grandson, Colby. Whether surrounded by his children, grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, or lifelong friends, Lee simply loved being with the people he cared about.

Anyone who knew Lee will remember the way he walked with a bounce in his step, the smile that could stop you in your tracks, and his incredible gift for making everyone feel welcome. He truly never knew a stranger. His kindness, quick wit, infectious laugh, and generous spirit left a lasting impression on everyone fortunate enough to cross his path.

Lee was preceded in death by his father, Celestino Dominguez; his mother, Francis Dominguez; his brothers, Celestino Jr. Dominguez, Jimmy Dominguez, Larry “Candy” Dominguez, and Pete Dominguez; his sister, Amanda Vega; and three siblings who passed shortly after birth.

He is survived by his devoted wife, Modesta “Molly” Dominguez; his son, Anthony (49) Dominguez and wife, Syrissa; his grandchildren, Colby Lopez (30) and Hayden Dominguez (12); his brothers, Gilbert (Maggie) Dominguez, Benny (Bernice) Dominguez, and Rueben Dominguez; his sisters, Lucy Dominguez, Janie Johnson, Gracie Coon, Victoria (Ramon) Facundo, and Paula Murphy; along with countless nieces and nephews, cousins, and many lifelong friends whose lives were forever enriched by knowing him.

Though our hearts are broken, we find comfort in knowing that Lee’s legacy lives on through the love he shared, the lessons he taught, the laughter he inspired, and the countless memories he leaves behind.

His life was one well lived, and he will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
