Michael Paul Frerichs

Michael Frerichs, son, brother, and friend, peacefully passed away on August 31, 2026, after an extended illness, surrounded by the compassionate care of Double Creek Memory Care in Round Rock, Texas. Born on April 18, 1952, in Taylor, Texas, Michael was the older son of the late Wilbert and Lillian Frerichs.

Michael's early years were spent on the family farms in the Taylor area. He graduated from Taylor High School and then pursued his higher education at St. Edward’s University in Austin, Texas, earning a Bachelor of Arts degree before furthering his studies in journalism at Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge.

After completing his education, Michael embarked on a fulfilling career in the publishing industry, working in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. His work reflected his commitment to excellence in communication.

A parishioner at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Michael's faith was a guiding force in his life. He was a man who enjoyed social engagements, whether sharing a meal or engaging in lively conversations. Beyond his professional endeavors, Michael found great joy in his hobbies. He spent countless hours working on motorcycles and tractors on the family farm in Thrall, Texas. This passion for mechanics and the outdoors was a testament to his love for hands-on work and his appreciation for the simple beauty of rural life.

Michael was predeceased by his loving parents, Wilbert and Lillian Frerichs, and his sister, Estelle Frerichs. He is survived by his devoted brother, Arthur, sister-in-law Colleen along with many nieces and nephews.

The family wishes to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the caretakers at Double Creek Assisted Living and Memory Care, as well as the dedicated staff at New Century Hospice, for their compassionate support and care during Michael’s final days.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to a charity of your choice in Michael's memory, as a way of honoring his love for life.
