It is with heavy hearts that we announced the passing of Michael James Vrana, who departed this life on June 2, 2026, at the age of 62. Born on August 8, 1963, in Taylor, Texas, Michael was a cherished son, brother, uncle, and friend. He leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and dedication to family and community.
Michael was the treasured son of Laura Ann Neidig Vrana and late Joe Pete Vrana. He was predeceased by his father, Joe Pete Vrana Jr., and his brother, Raymond Daniel Vrana, along with his grandparents, great aunts, and uncles who welcomed him into their eternal embrace.
Michael's journey began in the small town of Granger, where he graduated from Granger High School before moving to Taylor, Texas. He found his calling as a carpenter, a testament to his skillful hands and keen eye for detail. Over the years, he worked as a supervisor, leaving a mark of craftsmanship and integrity on every project he touched.
A man of deep faith, Michael was an active member of Saint Cyril and Methodius Catholic Church. His sense of community was further demonstrated through his involvement with the KJT, SPJST, Knights of Columbus, and Jaycees, organizations that reflected his commitment to service and camaraderie.
Michael's life was rich with passions and pursuits. An avid gardener, he took great pleasure in nurturing the earth and harvesting its bounty. He also enjoyed helping on the family farm, a testament to his hardworking nature and love for the land. His heart danced to the rhythms of polka and country western music, and he was celebrated as the best dancer by all who had the pleasure of sharing a dance floor with him.
A proud supporter of the Texas Longhorns, Michael had a deep appreciation for sportsmanship and the thrill of the Longhorn games. He was known to enjoy a friendly game of dominoes, gambling and many trips to Czech festivals, where his Czech heritage was celebrated in full color and spirit.
Michael is survived by his loving siblings: Joseph Robert Vrana (Jackie), Steven Paul Vrana, Marvin Lawrence Vrana (Shellie), and Carolyn Marie Reynolds (Brian), and sister-law Gina Vrana. He also leaves behind numerous nephews, nieces, great-nephews, great-nieces, and cousins, all of whom will cherish his memory and hold dear the times they spent together.
