Selma Rohlack Lange

Selma was born on November 8, 1928, to Ernest and Mary (Simank) Rohlack. She was baptized and confirmed at Wuthrich Hill Lutheran Church and attended Turkey Creek School. On December 21, 1947, she married the love of her life, Emery Lange Sr., at Wuthrich Hill Lutheran Church. Together they shared 68 wonderful years of marriage.

Selma was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Emery Lange Sr.; her parents, Ernest and Mary (Simank) Rohlack; six brothers; three sisters; and many other cherished family members.

She is survived by her children, Debbie Brinkmeyer (Logan), Emery Lange Jr. (Debbie), and Connie Lange; her grandchildren, Christy Williams (Don), Tracie Luna (John), Chad Hendrix (Rebecca), and Caresse Fralicker (JD); her great-grandchildren, Matthew and Noah Williams, Christopher (Ryan) Luna, Chase (Leina) Luna, Karaline and Guinevere Fralicker; and her great-great-granddaughter, Sabrina Luna. She also leaves behind many beloved extended family members and dear friends.

Selma grew up on the family farm alongside her nine siblings. From an early age, she learned the value of hard work, helping pick cotton, chop weeds, milk cows, and make butter and cheese. By the age of 12, she was baking six loaves of bread every day for her family.

After World War II ended in 1945 and her brothers returned home from military service, Selma met Emery. They married two years later and built a life centered on faith, family, and service. After raising their three children, Selma began working in the cafeteria at Thrall School, where she cooked and baked for 22 years. When Emery retired from Alcoa, Selma retired as well, and together they enjoyed traveling across the United States to attend reunions with Emery's Navy buddies.

Selma found joy in sewing, quilting, crocheting, gardening, preserving the harvest from her garden, tending her beautiful flower beds, and spending time at the family's deer leases in the Luckenbach area. She was known for her kindness, generosity, strong work ethic, and unwavering faith. Her love for her family and her servant's heart were evident in everything she did.

Selma lived by these words:

"I expect to pass this way but once; therefore, if I can do any good to a fellow human being, let me do it now, for I shall not pass this way again."

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, July 22, 2026, from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m., with funeral services immediately following at 2:00 p.m. Burial will follow at Taylor City Cemetery.
