

A. David Uechi, age 81 of Temple, died Friday, December 21, 2012 in a Georgetown care center. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday, January 19, 2013 at Scanio-Harper Funeral Home with Rev. Jakie Shirley officiating. Burial will be private. Mr. Uechi was born October 15, 1931 in Honolulu, Hawaii to Melville Gensho and Geraldine Stokes Uechi. He graduated from Monahans High School, the University of North Texas and the Southwestern Graduate School of Banking. He retired from Bank of America in Temple where he held the position of Trust Officer. He was a member of Immanuel Baptist Church in Temple and was active in the community. He volunteered as a tutor at Lanier Elementary School and served on the Temple ISD Strategic Planning Committee. He was a member of Scott & White Estate Planning Advisory Council and the Temple Optimist Club. As past president of Temple Civitan Club, David was named recipient of an "Outstanding Citizen Award". The Bell County Chapter of the American Business Women's Association, named him "Boss of the Year". He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother. Survivors include his wife of 34 years, Margie Uechi of Temple, his first wife, Linda Uechi of Midland, two children, John David Uechi and wife, Katie of Georgetown and Kelli Uechi Day and husband, LaWayne of Midland and six grandchildren.
