Alan Conrad Horn, born November 7, 1953, in Flint, Michigan, to William L. and Jeanette Horn, was called home to be with the Lord on September 23, 2026, at the age of 72. After a courageous year-long battle with cancer, he now rests in the eternal peace and joy promised by our Saviour, healed and whole in the presence of Christ.
Alan was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend whose life reflected faith, service, hard work, and a genuine love for people. He married Kelly Gibson, his greatest love, and their life together was a testament to enduring love and God's faithfulness—filled with devotion, laughter, and cherished memories.
His greatest joy was his family. He was the loving father of Nicholas Alan Horn (Melissa); Sara Paradoski (Mitchell); Meg Dobson (Andrew); and Matt Mobley (Terri). Known as “Pop,” he cherished his six grandchildren—Jackson, Ryder, Charlotte Hope (who now rejoices with him in Heaven), Hayden, Caroline, and Jameson—each one a bright light in his life. He is also survived by his sisters, Alma Joyce Moreno and Pamela Ann Rice; his brother, William Paul Horn; and his parents in law, Jerry and Madiene Gibson.
Alan served as a Lieutenant in the United States Navy during the Vietnam conflict, shaping his lifelong commitment to service. His professional career included roles with Texas Instruments/Acer America and MW Builders before founding Pepper Creek Development. After retiring, he co founded Texas Kingdom Builders, LLC. He was respected for his integrity, strong work ethic, and dedication to his craft.
A faithful member of First Baptist Church, Temple, Alan served as a deacon and joyfully devoted himself to any work that furthered God’s kingdom. He was also a proud member of the Rotary Club of Temple South, contributing to numerous committees and community initiatives.
Alan found joy in the outdoors and in cheering for his beloved Michigan Wolverines—“Go Blue!” He loved golf and fishing, especially ice fishing trips to South Dakota and mornings spent with his Wednesday and Thursday golf groups, where he formed lifelong friendships.
A celebration of Alan’s life will be held Tuesday, September 29 at 1:00 p.m. at First Baptist Church Temple. Visitation will be Monday from 5:00–7:00 p.m. at Scanio Harper Funeral Home.
Alan will be remembered for his steadfast faith, devotion to family, service to country and community, and the joy he brought to all who knew him. Those wishing to honor Alan may give memorials to the First Baptist Church Building Fund.
