

Albert Lee Eberhardt, age 91 of Temple, died on November 3rd, 2012. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M. Tuesday, November 6, 2012 at First Lutheran Church in Temple, Texas with Pastor Patricia Dietrich officiating. Burial will follow at Hillcrest Cemetery. There will be no set time for visitation. Albert was born on September 24, 1921 to Richard and Dora Haedge Eberhardt. His grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. August Haedge, were among the thirteen charter members of First Lutheran Church, first named Bethlehem Lutheran Church. Albert was a lifelong member of the church. He served on the church council as President several times, as president of the Lutheran Brotherhood, also served in various capacities of the local and national levels of the Brotherhood and taught Sunday school. Albert was also on the board of the Clifton Sunset Homes. Albert was educated in the Temple Public Schools. He joined the Navy in 1942. He was sent to San Diego, Rustan, Louisiana to Radio School and to Officers training school in Plattsburg, NY. During WWII Albert served in the Pacific and Asiatic theaters. He attended Texas A & M University receiving a degree in Civil Engineering. Albert was employed by Central Texas Iron Works in Waco where he retired as chief estimator. Albert was preceded in death by his parents, one brother Walter and one sister Irene Starling. He is survived by one brother Henry and wife Georgie, two sisters Gertrude Eberhardt and Edna Hughes, 2 nieces Carol Macsas and Gertie Kendrick and husband Del, one nephew Ron Eberhardt and wife Donna, 7 great nieces and nephews and one great great nephew. Memorials may be made to First Lutheran Church of Temple or the charity of your choice.
