

Amy Jane Bottoms was called to her heavenly home in the early morning hours of Saturday, October 7, 2017. She passed in a peaceful sleep, in the presence of her mother, sister and a cousin at a local hospital. She was born on June 6, 1972 in Temple to Johnny Barba and Janie Guzman Barba. She graduated from Troy High School in 1990, and attended Temple College to pursue a career in criminal justice. She postponed plans to focus her attention on her two beautiful daughters Abigail “Abby” Nicole and Gabriella “Gabby” Noel Brooke. Amy had a passion for life and her faith in God could be seen in her smile and throughout her journey on earth. Amy battled cancer for almost 10 years, yet remained positive and lived each day to the fullest, generously sharing her faith, love, compassion, joy, and hope. She inspired so many others who witnessed her strength and persistence. She loved spending time with family and friends, going to bingo, and singing in the church choir at St. Mary’s Catholic Church. She was preceded in death by her father. Amy is survived by her mother Janie Barba, loving companion Zac Johns, daughters Abigail and Gabriella (daughters of Gerald Brooke), sister Elaina Ramos, niece Madisyn Ramos, nephew Eric Ramos, step-son Nick Brooke, step-daughters Destini Brooke and Janelle Plastino, step-grandchildren: Angel Smith, Isabelle Brooke, Jaxson Brooke, Lei’Lani Martinez, Adrian Martinez, Jayden Martinez, and Alayah Amy Marie Brooke. Visitation will be 6:00 – 8:00 PM Tuesday, October 10th at Scanio-Harper Funeral Home with the Holy Rosary recited at 7:00 PM. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 AM Wednesday, October 11th at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Temple with Rev. Steven Sauser as celebrant. Burial will follow at Bellwood Memorial Park on Airport Road. Following the burial, a reception and meal will be served at St. Mary’s Catholic Church Hall. Donations on behalf of Amy Bottoms may be sent to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
