

Angelita Estero Escasa, age 72, of Temple went to be with her Lord and Savior on February 13, 2018. She was born on September 19, 1945 in the San Jacinto, Pangasinan, Philippines, the daughter of Cesario and Demetria Estero. She grew up in the Philippines, and attended Luzon Colleges, where she earned her Bachelor’s degree of Nursing. At age 19, she came to the United States and began her career in nursing at the VA Hospital in Brooklyn, NY. She met her husband, Tony Escasa, at a party and they were married on January 20, 1973. They celebrated their 45th anniversary this year. After the birth of their daughter, Josephine, they moved to Temple, Texas, where they planted roots and built their lives together. Angie worked as a registered nurse in the cardiac medical intensive care unit at the VA Hospital in Temple until her retirement. Her love for medicine and serving others continued through her volunteer work at the Temple Free Clinic and S&W Hospice. Angie has been a member of St. Luke’s Catholic Church since 1982, where she served with her husband as a Eucharistic Minister. She was also an active member of the Filipino-American Association, and was well-known for her amazing cooking, especially her Filipino food - eggrolls, pancit (noodle dish), and bibingka (rice cake dessert). Angie was happy to entertain and feed others and it was impossible to leave her home hungry – she wouldn’t have it. Angie was generous, kind, thoughtful, dependable and hard-working. She loved to visit with her family and friends. Angie was a devoted and loving wife, mother, Lola (Filipino term for grandmother) and friend. Despite her physical ailments, Angie never complained, but gave thanks to God for each day she lived. She was an amazing prayer warrior. Angie is survived by her husband, Tony of Temple, daughter Josephine Watson and son-in-law, Clint of Waco, and grandchildren, Annjeanette “AJ”, Meredith, Grayson, and Joseph Watson. She is also survived by her sisters Julia Fernandez of Temple and Nenita Boniog of Hawaii. She was preceded in death by her parents and siblings, Jose and Imelda Estero. In lieu of flowers, memorials to St. Luke’s Catholic Church Building Fund 2807 Oakdale Dr. Temple, Texas 76502 would be appreciated. A rosary vigil service will be held at St. Luke’s Catholic Church on Sunday, February 18, 2018 at 7pm. Her funeral mass will be held at St. Luke’s Catholic Church on Monday, February 19, 2018 at 11am.“For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.” Romans 8:38-9.
