

Belton D (Rooster) Rasco, 64, of Temple died Monday in a Temple hospital. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday March 7, 2009 at the Scanio-Harper Funeral Home with Rev. Martin Knox officiating. Burial with military honors will follow at Bellwood Memorial Park. Visitation will be held 6-8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Mr. Rasco was born June 15, 1944 in Hearne, Texas to Belton James and Willie Mae Morgan Rasco. He was a graduate of Hearne High School in 1962. He served in the United States Navy from 1962 to 1968 as an electrical technician. He served in Vietnam. He did his college studies at San Angelo State University, Howard Payne College and Pan American University. He was employed with the Weslaco Independent School District and with the Temple Independent School District, where he worked from 1974 until his retirement in 2003. He married Linda Pugh on July 12, 1969 in Midland, Texas. He was a member of the retired teachers association. Mr. Rasco was a member of the First Baptist Church of Temple where he was active in the video ministry. He was preceded in death by his father, Belton James Rasco and his mother and stepfather, Willie Mae and J. P. Stephens. Survivors include his wife, Linda; son and daughter-in-law, Kevin and Randi Rasco; daughters, Kimberly Rasco and Wendy Rasco Mossman; brother and sister-in-law, Bill and Judy Rasco; sister, Jimmie Lou Breeding; nieces, Andra Evans, Mellony Klotz, Kristie McRae and Karyn Rasco; and many great-nieces and nephews.
