Bernabe Fuentez

A visitation will take place on Monday, August 24, 2020 from 5:00pm – 7:00pm followed by a Rosary at 7:00pm at Scanio-Harper Funeral Home, 3110 Airport Rd. Temple, Texas 76504.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, August 25, 2020 at 10am at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 1018 S. 7th Temple, Texas 76504 followed by burial at Hillcrest Cemetery in Temple.

Benny was a graduate of St. Mary’s Catholic School and went on to Temple High School graduating in 1977. He went on to work for Texas Hydraulics and Temple Machine Shop.

He is survived by his wonderful wife Maria of Temple, sons, Ben Fuentez, Jr., Ruben Fuentez, Justin Fuentez, and Dustin Fuentez all of Temple, his father Felix Fuentez, Sr. of Temple, brothers, David Fuentez (Chris) of Cleburne and Felix Fuentez, Jr. (Marcy) of Temple, sisters, Mary Lou Salinas (Roy) of Troy, Romana Hernandez (Joe M)of Temple, Yolanda Esparza (Martin) of Temple, Carolyn Fuentez of Temple, and Frances Rodriquez (Randy) of Hewitt.

Benny loved the outdoors especially fishing and hunting. There was nothing he would not try. From his autobody hobby in his younger days to raising pigs or raising cattle. It was the drive in him to always be doing something and trying new things. He also had the ability to tell some wild stories just to get a laugh. He would put on a serious face just to make you believe what he was saying was true. If you knew him well you could see in his eyes when he was messing with you. All in all, Benny had compassion and would be willing to help out anyone. Even when his own health was hard on him he would not let on or his stubbornness would will him to keep going to be there when he was needed, without complaint.

Benny was preceded in death by his mother Marcelina Cantu Fuentez.

His Faith in God always guided him and gave him the strength till the very end.

Benny enjoyed his grandchildren most of all – Ely, Isabel, Daniel, Tony, Jordin, and Brooklyn. Always playing with them and having special treats for them to enjoy when they visited.
