

Betty Ellen Stimpert Garland, 66, died at her home in the early morning hours of Friday, November 7, 2014, of natural causes related to small cell carcinoma (lung cancer). Born December 10, 1947, in Sleepy Eye, MN, she went to high school in Apache Junction, AZ. Betty moved to Temple, TX, when she was 18 years old where she met her husband, John N. Garland, and was married on February 25, 1966. She was self-employed most of her life, owning Garland's Cleaners then later the Funny Farm Costume Shop, both in Temple, TX. Betty was preceded in death by her husband of 37 years, John N. Garland, in 2003. She was also preceded in death by her brother, Terry D. Stimpert. Betty is survived by her daughter, Betti E. Garland Gardner and her husband, Mark J. Gardner, and three grandsons, Grant J. Gardner, Wyatt J. Gardner, and Dylan D. Gardner. She is also survived by three brothers; James E. Stimpert, John C. Stimpert, Gregory P. Stimpert; two sisters; Judy Strimpert Holeweger and Phyllis K. Stimpert; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. No public services will be held.
