Chip was born January 27, 1950, in Waco, Texas, to Francis Marion and Blanche (Lane) Holt. He was a man of strong faith who loved Jesus, his family, and his church family.
Chip had a deep appreciation for people and for the outdoors. Motorcycles, boats, and time spent enjoying life were among his favorite things. He especially loved traveling, camping, fishing, and following the weather. He and his wife, Margaret, shared many camping trips across the United States, creating cherished memories along the way. Whether tracking daily weather reports, checking lake conditions, or finding the perfect fishing spot, Chip always seemed to know just where to catch the sun’s rays—and the big fish.
Throughout his life, Chip wore many hats. He served as a police officer, owned and operated the Sea Hawk deep-sea charter boat, worked as a fishing and duck hunting guide, managed deer leases, and later worked in the durable medical equipment field, providing essential equipment to those in need. His work reflected both his adventurous spirit and his heart for helping others.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Francis Marion and Blanche (Lane) Holt; brother, Francis “Sonny” Holt; sisters, Peggy (Holt) Storm, Mary (Holt) Niswanger, Helen (Holt) Harbin, and Wilma (Holt) Morgan; his wife of 13 years, Jeanne (Thompson) Holt; and one granddaughter.
Chip is survived by his wife of 20 years, Margaret Nell (Lance) Holt; daughters Jana and Robert Ray of Liberty Hill, Texas; Kim and Jesse Green of Aransas Pass, Texas; Laurie Crim of Rockport, Texas; Christy and Darren Brisbin of New Llano, Louisiana; Ceryl and Darrell Stanford of Waco, Texas; and son, David and Miriam Holt of League City, Texas. He also leaves behind 27 grandchildren, 34 great-grandchildren, and 12 great-great-grandchildren.
Chip’s life was defined by faith, family, adventure, and service. He will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by all who knew and loved him.
