
Boyd Waters.84, a long time Belton resident passed away August 11, 2010 at the age of 84. He was born in Hare, Texas on October 4, 1925 to Claude and Elender Waters, and moved to Temple at an early age. On October 25, 1943, he married Fern Evans. In December 1943, Boyd joined the Navy and served in the Philippines. After World War II he was employed with Griggs Equipment for 26 years, and was the plant superintendent. In 1972, as vice president of manufacturing, he was one of the co-founders and partners that established Superior Chaircraft, where he worked until his retirement in 1991. He was a long time member and past-president of the Belton Lions Club as well as a member of the first Baptist Church of Belton. Boyd is survived by his wife of 66 years, Fern Waters of Belton daughter Brenda Waters of Austin; Brother C.D. Waters and wife Jeanette of Temple; Sister Marie Havelka and husband U.D. of Temple, two nieces, a nephew and two great-nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Claude and Elender Waters, and son Keith Waters. A visitation will be held on Friday August 13, 2010 from 5-7 PM at Scanio-Harper Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be held at 10:00AM Saturday August 14, 2010 at the Funeral Home, with Dr. Leroy Kemp officiating. Burial will follow at Bellwood Memorial Park.
