Bruce was born on August 30, 1941 in Abilene, TX to Ross Brown Thompson and Ruth Eaton Thompson. He grew up in Premont, TX where he met the love of his life Mary Judith "Judy" Thompson. Bruce and Judy began dating in middle school, a love story that would span more than six decades.
Both Bruce & Judy attended Baylor University before marrying in 1963. The young couple moved to Dallas where Bruce completed his studies at Baylor Dental School. After dental school Bruce joined the Army and served his country as a dentist in South Carolina and Vietnam.
Their first child Molly Brown Thompson was born while Bruce was stationed at Fort Jackson, South Carolina. After serving one year in Vietnam, Bruce and Judy moved to Temple, TX where he established his dental practice which was later known as Forest Trail Dental. In 1971 their second child Bruce "Todd" Thompson was born to complete their family.
For more than thirty years Bruce served his patients and the community with exceptional skill, unwavering faith, and genuine compassion.
His two passions were serving the Lord with his voice in the First Baptist Church choir and improving his golf game. He will be remembered not only as an outstanding dentist but a man who cared deeply for others.
Bruce & Judy shared a beautiful life raising two children. His greatest joy was his family and he treasured every moment with them. He is survived by his devoted wife of 62 years, Judy Thompson, his sisters Betty Sue Mathis, Bonnie Brown Johnson, his daughter Molly Brown Thompson, his son Dr. Bruce Todd Thompson and his wife Ali, his grandchildren Mady Rippey, Abby Rippey, Livy Rippey, McKenna Thompson Taggart, Zane Thompson, and his great grandson Walker Brown DeYoung.
