A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, August 8, 2026, at Scanio-Harper Funeral Home in Temple. The family will receive friends during a visitation an hour prior from 1:00 pm – 2:00 pm.
Bruce was born on March 10, 1945, in Cleveland, Ohio, to James Ray Trapp and Frances Marie (Williams) Trapp.
Bruce spent his formative years in Augusta, Kansas, where he graduated from Augusta High School before continuing his education at Wichita State University. On July 5, 1991, he married the love of his life, Rosemary Trapp, beginning a marriage built on love and companionship.
Bruce was a man who found joy in life’s quieter moments and took great pride in sharing his talents and interests with others. A gifted woodworker, he not only enjoyed creating with his hands but also had the opportunity to pass along his knowledge and craftsmanship as a high school and middle school woodworking teacher. Through teaching, Bruce was able to share his appreciation for the craft with generations of students, encouraging them to develop skills of their own and take pride in what they could create.
Bruce also loved the game of tennis, both as a player and as a collector of vintage tennis racquets that reflected the rich history of the sport. He had a fascination with Native American artifacts as well and cherished the hours he spent exploring the outdoors in search of pieces of history. Those who knew Bruce will remember his knowledge and enthusiasm for the things he loved, but perhaps most of all, the genuine joy he found in sharing his interests, talents, and experiences with others.
He was preceded in death by his parents, James Ray Trapp and Frances Marie Trapp, and his brother, Harold Trapp.
Bruce is survived by his beloved wife, Rosemary Trapp of Nolanville; sons, Brandon Trapp, Matthew Wittman and wife Samantha , Jason Wittman and wife Jessica; sister, Kathleen Turnage and husband David; his grandchildren, Sydney Loveall, Makayla Wittman, Lexi Wittman, Claire Wittman, Emma Wittman, Jordyn Suhina, and Greyson Wittman; sister-in-law, Robetta Steeby and husband Dale; nieces and nephews, Sandor and wife Karen, Joshua and wife Meagan, Justin and wife Margaret, James and wife Hillary, and Gretchen and husband Rick; as well as 18 grandnieces and grandnephews.
The family requests that in lieu of flowers that memorials be made in Bruce's memory to the Temple Police Association, PO Box 2147, Temple, Texas 76503.
