Caroline Robinson Maedgen

Caroline Robinson Maedgen, age 87 of Troy, died Thursday, August 16, 2012. Services will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday, August 18 at Scanio-Harper Funeral Home with Mike McMurtry officiating. Burial will follow at Bellwood Memorial Park. Visitation will be 6:00 - 8:00 PM Friday at the funeral home. Mrs. Maedgen was born January 25, 1925 in Ranger to George Harrison Robinson and Lillie Wiegand Robinson. She graduated from Ranger High School and the University of North Texas. She taught school in Throckmorton, Temple and Troy over a twenty year period of time. She was a member of Texas State Teachers Association, a life member of Texas Retired Teachers, member of Temple-Bell County Retired Teachers, Lambda Chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma, American Association of University Women, life member of Texas Parent-Teacher Association and president of Troy and Bell County PTAs. After retirement she was a tutor for the Temple Literacy Council. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Temple where she taught children's Sunday School for 50 years and directed the children's choir and taught Training Union. She was a member of the flower committee and an officer in the Women's Missions and Round Table. She was also an adult leader of 4-H Club in Troy and received the Outstanding Adult Leader Award. In addition, she was past president of the Tuesday Study Club and an officer in City Federation of Women's Clubs. Survivors include her husband of 66 years, Lawrence Maedgen of Troy, her four children, Karen Neeley and husband, Jack DeLoach of Austin, Larry Maedgen and Kevin Maedgen both of Los Angeles and George Michael (Mike) Maedgen and wife, Lynda of Troy; four grandchildren, Amanda Maedgen and husband, Erich Fitzgerald, Dee Michael Maedgen and wife, Shawna, Abbey Maedgen and Jason Neeley, four great-grandchildren, Kimberlyn Seaman, Amon Maedgen Fitzgerald, Bailey Maedgen and Kaitlyn Maedgen and one great great-grandson, Arden DeBaun. Also surviving are six step grandchildren and eight step great-grandchildren.
