Cecil May Hendricks

Cecil May Hendricks, age 88 of Rogers, died Tuesday, August 9, 2016 at a local hospital. Services and interment will be held at 10:00am Thursday, August 11, 2016 at Wilson Valley Cemetery in Little River with Rev. Gary DeSalvo officiating. Miss Hendricks was born on December 11, 1927 in Little River-Academy to the late John Alvin Hendricks and Jessie Elliott Hendricks. She attended schools in Academy and was valedictorian of the 1944 Academy High School class. She received her Bachelor of Science and Master of Education degree from the University of Texas in Austin. She taught home economics at Temple High School for 41 years, retiring in 1989. She enjoyed growing flowers and working in her yard. Also, she liked to cook, sew and play the piano and organ. She did volunteer work at Scott and White and at Temple Bible Church, of which she was a charter member. She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, John Albert Hendricks and James Elliott Hendricks.Survivors include a nephew, James Elliott Hendricks, Jr.; and a  niece, Catherine H. McSorley. Scanio-Harper Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
