
Charles M. Flanders, 64, of Temple died Saturday, September 22, 2007 in a Temple hospital. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Wednesday, September 26, 2007 at the Scanio-Harper Funeral Home with Rev. Don Loftin officiating. Military graveside services will be at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday at the Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery in Killeen, Texas. Visitation will be held 6-7 p.m. on Tuesday at the funeral home. Mr. Flanders was born September 8, 1943 in Temple, Texas to Howard Denton and Margaret Eleanor White Flanders. He attended Temple schools. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy serving during the Vietnam conflict as a medical corpsman. He received his master and doctorate degrees from Texas A & M University and was a professor of engineering and education from 1980 to 1988 at Texas A&M. He was vice president of Allwaste Inc. in Houston from 1988 to 1991 at which time he retired. He married Paula Gomez on May 5, 1987 and they moved to Temple in 2000. He was a member of St. Luke Catholic Church. Survivors include his wife, Paula Flanders of Temple; Step-father, Pate Hughes of Temple; daughter, Diana Casler and husband Kelly of Ft. Worth; son, Larry Gomez and wife Anita of Bedford; brother, Bobby Butler and wife Penny of Moody; sister Joann Norman of Moody; one grandson, Jeremy Gomez.
