

Chester “Chet” William Green, age 85, of Temple passed away on Thursday, November 16, 2017 at a local hospital. He was born on November 24, 1931 in East Bell County to Edwin and Verena Kessler Green. Visitation will take place on Sunday, November 19, 2017 from 3:00pm – 5:00pm with a Rosary beginning at 5:00pm at Scanio-Harper Funeral Home 3110 Airport Rd. Temple, Texas 76504. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday, November 20, 2017 at 9:00am at St. Luke’s Catholic Church 2807 Oakdale Dr. Temple, TX followed by a burial at Bellwood Memorial Park in Temple. Chet served his country in the United States Army, was the owner/operator of Green’s Automotive for 45 plus years retiring in 2001. He was a member of St. Luke’s Catholic Church in Temple, was a member of the Knights of Columbus Council #3444 where he was a current 4th Degree Trustee, former Grand Knight, former District Deputy, and former Faithful Navigator. His love of music began in his early years and carried throughout his life playing the mandolin and guitar in several local central Texas bands ending with the Journeyman. After retiring Chet became an avid golfer and recorded a hole-in-one several years ago. He is survived by his wife of 64 years Janet Miller Green of Temple, children Terry William Green and wife Melanie of San Antonio, Yvonne Green Griffith and husband Allen of Centerville, TX, Chris Green and wife Julie Hartfield of Temple, and Tricia Green Mitchell and husband Brian of Belton, grandchildren, Brittany Walthall and husband Jason of Fairfield, TX, Dillon Green of Temple, Gracie Green of Temple, Hunter Mitchell of Austin, and Liv Mitchell of Belton, and great-granddaughters Alexi and Jayci Walthall.
