
Clifford Lee Cawthon, age 86, of Temple died Tuesday, February 20, 2007 at a local nursing home. Services will be held at 2:00 PM Thursday, February 22, at Bellwood Memorial Park in Temple with Rev. Walter Matus officiating. Visitation will be 6:00 7:30 PM Wednesday, February 21 with a rosary to follow at 7:30 PM at Scanio-Harper Funeral Home. Mr. Cawthon was born December 11, 1921 in Waco to William B. and Nola Mae Cawthon. He married Beatrice Malish on December 11, 1943 in San Antonio. She preceded him in death April 24, 2003. He was a veteran of World War II in the U. S. Army Air Corps and retired from the Texas National Guard in 1981. He worked as a nursing assistant at the Temple V. A. Hospital for 35 years retiring in 1981. He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Temple, V.F.W. Post #1820, American Legion Post # 133, S.P.J.S.T. Academy Lodge #177, N.A.R.F.E. and Knights of Columbus #3444. Survivors include two daughters, Tana K. Komar and husband, Bill of Temple and Sue Slaton of Zabcikville and two sons, Allen Cawthon of Fort Worth and Don Cawthon of Temple. Also surviving are four grandchildren, Mary Slaton and Wallace Slaton both of Temple, Clifford Lee Cawthon and wife, Wendy of Fort Worth, Kimberly Bowman and husband, Daniel of Conroe and six great grandchildren. Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Association.
