She graduated from Canoga Park High School in Canoga Park, California and attended Bethany Nazarene College in Bethany, Oklahoma. She had been a resident of Temple since 1958. She worked as a secretary for Temple ISD with most of those years at Temple High School. She retired in 2003 after 21 years with the school district. Dena loved life. There was no place in Temple that she didn't know someone. She loved the students and staff of Temple High School and stayed in touch with many throughout the years. She was an avid fan of Wildcat sports, especially football and basketball. Dena loved to entertain and was a wonderful cook and hostess. She made all guests feel like family. Dena enjoyed travel, shopping with her daughters and enjoyed her annual family trips to Colorado. She loved and decorated her home for every holiday, especially Christmas. She was a member of Belton Nazarene Church where she was the church pianist. She was also the pianist for the Meridian "Occasional Singers" and for the Thursday Club Alzheimer's Group. Each song was carefully selected, lovingly played and came from the heart. Days following her diagnosis, she chose to play "When We All Get To Heaven" for her offertory not knowing it would be her last. Her family was of upmost importance to her and she always put others before herself. Being a memaw was her highest priority and greatest joy. On July 25, 1959 she married Robert Ray Scott in Temple. She was preceded in death by her parents. Survivors include her husband of 52 years, Bob Scott of Temple, one son, Robert "Robin" Scott, Jr. of College Station and his children Kiley, Trip and Kennedy.
