

Donald Graves, 85, of Temple died Monday July 21, 2008 in a local nursing home. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday July 24, 2008 at the Scanio-Harper Funeral Home with Rev. Roger Graves, Rev. Jim Brazzil, and Rev. Billy Koinm officiating. Burial will follow at Bellwood Memorial Park with military honors. Visitation will be held 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Mr. Graves was born January 16, 1923 in Coryell County, Texas to Cicero and Stella Humphries Graves. He was a veteran of World War II having served in the United States Army Air Corps. He married Cydelle Bohn in Marlin, Texas on October 19, 1947. He was a member of Heights Baptist Church, was a deacon, and was a song leader for the Golden Heights Choir. Mr. Graves was interim music leader at several churches in the Temple/Belton area. He was a salesman for the Nabisco Co. for 32 years. He was a member of the American Legion Post #133 in Temple and had served in the Texas National Guard. Survivors include his wife, Cydelle Graves of Temple; three daughters, Sharon Dell Phillips of Temple, Mary Emily Cox of Holland, and Shirley Pickering of Nelson, England; two sons, Donald R. Graves of Temple and Roger K. Graves of Ames, Iowa; nine grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren.
