
Donald R. Hodges, age 85 of Temple, died Monday, November 19, 2012 at his residence. A graveside service will be held at 2:00 PM Friday, November 23 at Italy Cemetery in Italy, Texas with Bill Wiley a Church of Christ minister from Crowley officiating. Mr. Hodges was born February 20, 1927 in Frost to Jim Allen and Bessie Flemmings Clay Hodges. He graduated from Frost High School and Texas A&M University. His military service includes the U. S. Maritime Service, the U. S. Army and the Army Reserve Corps. He served a year in Japan and a year in Korea during the Korean War. He was employed by the United States Dept. of Agriculture. He retired in 1986 after 35 years of federal government service. He was a member of Western Hills Church of Christ in Temple and a former member of Lions clubs in Sherman and Colorado City. He was a member of the Association of Former Students at Texas A&M University, the A&M Century Club and the 12th Man Foundation. He had been a resident of Temple since June, 1988. He was preceded in death by his father, on July 28, 1959, his mother on September 17, 1967, his wife, Dorothy Norman Hodges on February 27, 2007 and his brothers and sisters. Survivors include his son, Gilford Lane (Gil) Hodges and wife, Bonnie of Temple, one granddaughter, Adriene Lane Hodges of Temple, one grandson, Jim Berry and wife, Michelle of Belton and two great-grandchildren, Jordan and Peyton. In lieu of flowers, the family request that memorial donations may be made to Scott & White Healthcare Foundation, c/o Office of Development, 2401 S. 31st St., Temple, TX 76508 in honor of Dr. Thomas Phillip Reilly, Jr.
