Donald W. (Buddy) Cooper, Sr.

Donald W. (Buddy) Cooper, Sr., age 77 of Temple, died Sunday, September 28, 2014 at his residence. Services will be held at 2:00 PM Wednesday, October 1 at Taylor's Valley Baptist Church with Rev. Donald W. Cooper, Jr. and Rev. Randy Holtzclaw officiating. Burial will follow at Resthaven Cemetery. Visitation will be 6:00 - 8:00 PM Tuesday at Scanio-Harper Funeral Home. Mr. Cooper was born May 10, 1937 in Belton. He was a graduate of Belton High School where he played football, basketball, baseball and track and received an associate degree from Louisiana Tech. He married Barbara Lynn Boyd on November 7, 1958. He was a veteran of the U. S. Navy. He owned and operated Cooper and Co. Nursery in Belton for the past five years. He was preceded in death by his parents, James Floyd and Velma Bridges. Survivors include his wife, Barbara Cooper of Temple, two sons, Donald W. Cooper, Jr. and wife Melisa of Crawford, Jonathan Cooper and wife, Denice of Belton, one daughter, Michelle Franks of Kennedale, twelve grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Also surviving are two sisters, Jewel Whitley and Frances John Fairchild and husband, Perry all of Temple and his beloved aunt, Jimmie Reed of Belton.
