

Born on May 6, 1948, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, Donna was the daughter of Robert Anthony and Ada (St. Vincent) Anthony. She spent her early years in Pittsburgh, where she graduated from high school and built the foundation of the strong values and work ethic that would guide her throughout her life.
On August 24, 1968, Donna married her high school sweetheart and love of her life, James Stephen Gamrod, in Pittsburgh. Together they shared nearly 58 years of marriage, building a life centered on faith, family, and devotion to one another. In 1978, Jim and Donna moved their young family to Temple. Here they raised their children, Matt and Holly, and built a family of friends.
Donna worked as a secretary for Temple Independent School District from 1983 until her retirement in 2006. Known as Mrs. G or Mama G to the students she served, Donna took pride in her work and was known for her kindness, dependability, and willingness to help others.
A devoted member of First Belton Baptist Church, Donna found strength and fellowship in her church family. She treasured time spent with those she loved and found her greatest joy in being a wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, friend, and dog-mom.
Donna is survived by her beloved husband, James Stephen Gamrod of Belton; son, Matthew Gamrod of Belton; daughter, Holly Garza of West Point; grandson, Stephen Gamrod of Belton; granddaughter, Hannah Garza of West Point; brother, Bob Anthony and wife Barbara of West Chester, Pennsylvania; niece, Sarah Rivera of Morristown, New Jersey; nephew, Bobby Anthony of Chicago, Illinois; two great-nephews and one great-niece.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Ada Anthony.
Donna will be remembered for her unwavering love for her family, her selflessness and positive light, her love of animals, and her faith. Her memory will remain a blessing to all who knew and loved her.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, June 14th, from 2:00pm – 5:00pm at Scanio-Harper Funeral Home, 3110 Airport Rd, Temple, Texas 76504.
Funeral Services will be held on Monday, June 15th, at 3:30pm at First Belton Baptist Church, 506 N. Main St. Belton, Texas 76513.
Burial will take place Tuesday, June 16th, at 10:00am at the Central Texas State Cemetery, 11463 TX-195 Killeen, Texas 76542.
