

Doris Nell "Nannie" Howell-Meissner, 83 of Temple, went home to meet her Lord on Thursday, March 8, 2012. Services will be 10 a.m. Saturday, March 10 at Heights Baptist Church with Rev. Billy Koinm officiating. Burial will follow at the Holland Cemetery. Doris was born on November 6, 1928 in Val Verde to the late George Beverly Townsend and Emma Pearl Tittle Townsend. She attended schools in Schwertner and Bartlett. On July 3, 1946, Doris married Charles Ray Howell and he preceded her in death on May 7, 1959. On November 25, 1964, she married Linwood Louis "Boogie" Meissner and he preceded her in death on May 1, 1998. Doris was a very active member of Heights Baptist Church and the Golden Heights Choir. She was preceded in death by her parents, one brother and her two husbands. Survivors include a son, Dennis Howell and wife Donna of Temple; a daughter, Ginger Cooksey and husband Johnnie of Cameron; a brother, Darrell Townsend and wife Donna of Temple; four grandchildren, Paul Howell of Holland, David Cooksey of San Antonio, Brent Howell of Lorena, and Jennifer Epperson of Cameron and eleven great-grandchildren Travis, Luke, Mark and Lindsey Howell, Hope and Connor Cooksey, Ridge King, Kyle, Lyric, Kinsley and Eden Epperson. Pallbearers will be Paul Howell, Brent Howell, David Cooksey, Shane Epperson, Travis Howell and Ridge King. Memorials may be given in Doris' name to the Texas Baptist Children's Home in Round Rock, 1101 North Mays, Round Rock, Texas 78664 or to the Golden Heights Choir, c/o Heights Baptist Church, 1220 S. 49th Street, Temple, Texas 76504.
